Europe is more than just a single market, more than money. It is always about values. But these values are not granted in themselves. Independence of judiciary, fight against corruption, media freedom and the political systems based on checks and balances are coming under pressure in some of the EU Member States. Why does the Union deal with Rule of Law? What instruments does it have at its disposal? What is the Rule of Law report? How is the current state of the Rule of Law in the Union and in Austria? What next?
